Grants/Gala Coordinator
 
The Albany Symphony Orchestra seeks an ambitious and aggressive person to fill the position of grants/gala coordinator.

Position Overview
 
The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to complete grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, corporations, and individuals; research potential funders, work in a timely manner, and work cooperatively with coworkers. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to plan and implement special fund raising events in conjunction with the development team. Commitment to the ASO should be demonstrated by seeking and responding to opportunities to develop new projects and by attending concerts. The candidate must be extremely knowledgeable of all ASO program areas, and must be able to articulate, in a compelling way, to all potential organizations and individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities: Grants
 
• Responsible for writing and delivery of all grants and proposals to foundations, government agencies, corporations, and individuals.
 
• Must continuously identify new grants that will fund programming at least three years out.
 
• Responsible for preparing and maintaining all interim and final reports for all grants.
 
• Develop and maintain schedule of all proposal dates and arrange meetings to discuss content of each proposal.
 
• Work with the ASO Controller to insure accurate posting of all giving. Assist in preparing the development budget in a thoughtful and timely manner.
 
• Assist in working with the PR/Marketing Manager in acknowledging giving in all the appropriate materials.
 
• Responsible for applying for appropriate recognition awards.
 
• Responsible for supplying reports to the General Manager regarding all grant activities.
 
• Must be able to motivate and work efficiently with volunteers.
 
• The grant writer must work successfully with the development team to insure continued organizational growth.

Duties and Responsibilities: Gala Coordinator
 
• The candidate will be directly responsible for planning and implementing all activities for the annual gala. The candidate will work directly with the gala committee and/or a party planner, and the staff to insure a successful event.
 
• Prepare budget for event.
 
• Responsible for creating and maintaining an event timeline to insure that all event-related tasks are completed in a timely fashion. 
 
• Develop and maintain invitation lists and responses to assure successful and accurate reporting of attendance.
 
• Responsible for all aspects of event auction.
 
• Conduct a timely review session to provide feedback for future events.

Qualifications
 
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree and outstanding ability in areas of written communication, working with staff and volunteers, planning, organization and managing multiple tasks.
 
• At least 3 years of experience writing grant proposals, reports, and donor correspondence preferably in a nonprofit environment.
 
• Experience with database management, specifically Raisers Edge is a plus.
