A
Journey to Ireland,
Scotland and Britain
Immerse yourself in the luxurious green fields of Ireland
as you surrender to the soft, sweet sounds of the Uilleann
Pipes during the world premiere of a new concerto on old
Irish themes by Robinson McClellan. Soprano Amanda Boyd
will captivate you with a set of Irish and English Folk
Songs arranged by Benjamin Britten. To round out your musical
trip across the big pond, the orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides” Overture, inspired
by his trip to the coast of Scotland, and Haydn’s
final symphony, the “London."

Soprano Amanda Boyd has performed many concerts
and recitals in London, Italy and NY. Her most recent ASO performance
in February of 2007 prompted Times
Union reviewer Joseph Dalton
to note “the vocal high points were a couple of joyous
solos by soprano Amanda Boyd.”
