Vanguard - Albany Symphony,
Inc.
Throughout its 45-year history,
Vanguard has worked to support the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Our
members are men and women from the greater Capital District who want
to see the orchestra continue to develop its role as a major
cultural force in this region.
Our activities focus on helping the orchestra prosper by raising
funds and providing many services for the orchestra and its concert-goers.
In addition, we provide educational opportunities for the very
young through the Tiny Tots Program, and for adult musicians
through the Vanguard Scholarship/Educational Program. We also
hold free concert Prevues at the Albany Public Library each Thursday
before classical subscription concerts. Our major fundraiser
is the annual Designer Showhouse, which is held over a three-week
period each spring. Our ushers and mailing committees provide
staff support to the Albany Symphony, and the Vanguard Newsletter
keeps the music community informed of orchestra activities.

Since 1980 Vanguard’s chief fund-raiser
has been the Designer Showhouse, an annual event which has
acquired a loyal following of visitors excited by elegant home
decor. |
