2023-2024 Season

Film Music Festival - October 5 through 8, 2023

Albany Symphony kicks off its 2023-24 season with a Film Music Festival Weekend October 5th through 8th in Albany and Troy. Thursday Oct. 5 at 7:30pm, pianist Kevin Cole returns to the Capital Region for an intimate Hollywood Cabaret solo recital featuring beloved favorite songs from the Golden Age of film at the Troy Saving Bank Music Hall. On Saturday, Oct. 7, at 7:30pm, Music Director David Alan Miller leads the ASO in Soundtrack NY, a concert featuring selections from West Side Story, King Kong, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and more at Albany’s Palace Theatre. On Sunday, Oct. 8, at 7:30pm, rocker Tommy Tallarico and his band join the Symphony for Video Games Live, an immersive music experience featuring music and videos from World of Warcraft, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Halo, Skyrim, The Last of Us, Kingdom Hearts and more at the Palace.


2022-2023 Season

Convergence Festival - June 7 through July 3, 2023

The 2023 American Music Festival: Convergence celebrates the latest in musical innovation, featuring an array of premieres and performances in the exploration of Black American art forms. As part of a three-year collaborative project, Convergence, brings together the Symphony, an array of performers and organizations from across the Capital Region, and nationally acclaimed artistic partners to engage in various Black artistic disciplines relating to the breadth of American culture, new music, and meaningful community-building work.

Funded in part with generous investment from the Carl E. Touhey Foundation, Convergence builds broad awareness of our contemporary world while working to expose and eliminate bias through artistic inquiry and musical creation.

Convergence has and will continue to bring together members of our community, and deepen our understanding of and appreciation for art that radiates from it. Convergence is building bridges between cultures, fostering collaboration, opening up dialogue, and sparking a renewed sense of creativity here in our shared community. Experience this important project in action as we work together toward ever-increasing inclusiveness, vitality and resonance in the Capital Region.


2021-2022 Season

TrailBlaze NY Festival - June 2 through July 3, 2022

TrailBlaze NY celebrates the completion of New York’s Empire State Trail—750 miles of cycling, walking, and hiking trails alongside the state’s most significant waterways. Over five weekends and across nine counties, the Albany Symphony will present free new music concerts, multimedia art, interactive family fun, and recreation events to thousands of people along New York’s scenic trails and rivers.


2020-2021 Season

American Music Festival - June 10 through June 13, 2021

The 2021 American Music Festival features an array of new music, from the world premieres of several commissions for our Symphony’s season finale and the latest appearance of our genre-bending ensemble Dogs of Desire, to a chance to follow composers and their growing works up through our “First Draughts” Reading Session. In appreciation of the adventurous spirit that has carried all of us through the great challenges of 2020, we are throwing open our digital doors and inviting everyone to experience the American Music Festival from anywhere and everywhere.


2019-2020 Season

Clara Schumann Festival - January 9 through January 12, 2020

A piano prodigy, trailblazing composer, famous teacher, devoted wife, and loving mother- explore the life and legacy of Clara Schumann while her music resonates through historic Downtown Troy.


2018-2019 Season

American Music Festival - Sing Out! New York - May 30 through June 9, 2019

THIS IS MORE THAN MUSIC YOU HEAR — IT’S MUSIC YOU FEEL! Experience more than 55 new or recent works by 38 American composers, including 27 world premiere performances celebrating New York’s leading role in the struggle for equal rights.

Armistice Centennial - October 16 through November 10, 2018

November 11, 2018 marks the centennial anniversary of the Armistice, the official end of World War I. Commemorate and explore “the great war” through a series of cultural and historical events leading up to the Capital Region’s first performance of Benjamin Britten’s moving War Requiem in over 40 years.

Water Music NY - July 2 through July 8, 2017

Water Music NY is a cross-regional celebration of the bicentennial of New York’s Erie Canal, developed and presented by the Albany Symphony in close collaboration with the New York State Canal Corporation. The project consists of a week-long barge journey on the Erie Canal from July 2 to July 8, performing free concerts in seven canal communities along the way. The Symphony will collaborate with local art groups to debut seven original world premieres by emerging composers, as it stops in Albany, Schenectady, Amsterdam, Little Falls, Baldwinsville, Brockport and Lockport.
