Gone in a Phrase of Air

Jazz violinist and MacArthur Fellow Regina Carter met with local artists and Albany Symphony musicians at the Albany Department of Recreation to begin to exploring "urban renewal" and its effects on the African American and immigrant communities in Albany. Lunch consisted of soul food by Allie B’s Cozy Kitchen.

Albany Symphony musicians and community members learned about Black and Immigrant displacement in Albany as a result of I787 and the construction of the Empire State Plaza. Participants also got to explore jazz elements and music making as a community.
