Bass Trombone

Charles Morris

Charles Morris has served as bass trombonist with the Albany Symphony since 2017. A sought-after freelance musician, Chuck is an active performer across orchestral, chamber, jazz, and solo settings, and works as an academic administrator with the Art, Culture, and Technology program at MIT.

As a soloist, Chuck has performed David Gillingham’s Sonata for Bass Trombone at Carnegie Hall and appeared with the IU Philharmonic Orchestra as winner of the Indiana University Concerto Competition, performing Eric Ewazen’s Bass Trombone Concerto.

Chuck performs across the country in orchestral, chamber, jazz, and commercial settings, with appearances with a wide range of ensembles including major symphony orchestras, big bands, choral organizations, and chamber groups.

He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University.

Outside of music, Chuck enjoys retro video games, smoking meat, hiking with his Great Dane, Olive, and sharing music through his YouTube channel, Chuck Plays the Trombone.
